Our Story
2017
GB Access continues to be the market leader for rental construction hoists. We are increasing our workforce, expanding facilities and purchasing additional hoists to add to our extensive rental fleet. This includes the acquisition of Kier Construction’s hoist business which will be incorporated into GB Access.
2015
We became a specialist division of A-Plant. As a result of the acquisition, A-Plant now owns one of the largest rental fleets of Alimak and Stros construction hoists, and GB Access still operates as an independent business.
2008
Like all companies associated with the construction industry, the recession of 2008 reduced the demand for our equipment and services. However, due to our policy of owning our hoist fleet, premises and vehicles, we fared better than many hoist rental companies who disappeared from the market.
1997
We relocated into larger premises in Oundle with increased workshop, office and yard space. Since then the facilities at the offices and yard have continuously expanded and improved, with staffing levels increased to satisfy a growing market.
1994
The natural expansion into rental of rack and pinion driven construction hoists took place. Through various acquisitions the stock of hoists was built into an extensive hire fleet and we became well established in the construction hoist hire industry.
1989
GB Access was formed with the objective of providing an installation and maintenance service to owners and operators of rack and pinion driven hoists.
